Temporary Skill Shortage Visa- Subclass 482
What is a Subclass 482 Temporary Skill Shortage Visa?
- A work visa that permits an Australian employer to sponsor someone from another country to work for them in their company in Australia.
- This visa helps to fill in the gap of the skilled worker required in Australia.
- It took the place of the DHA-abolished Temporary Work visa subclass 457.
Three streams of TSS visas are available to work in Australia
The Short-Term stream
Employers can use this visa to address labor shortages by bringing in qualified employees when they can’t find a suitable Australian worker. The occupation is listed on the list of short-term skilled vocations.
The Medium-Term stream
With the help of this stream, you can work in Australia for up to four years. Your occupation is either on the MLTSSL (Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List) or the Regional Occupation List (ROL).
The Labor Agreement stream
This is for skilled employees who have been nominated by organizations that have a labor agreement. This agreement allows you to work and live in Australia temporarily. The Australian Government (represented by the Department) and employers work together to negotiate labor agreements.
